- Support field HR team on all labor relations issues, including contract negotiations; grievance and arbitration; contract interpretation and administration; progressive discipline; ULPs; and positive employee engagement.
- Provide analyses and strategic advice on Human Resources and other policies, procedures, and practices.
- Develop and manage key projects and initiatives related to hiring, retention and advancement, talent development, employment assessments and artificial intelligence, sourcing, regulatory inquiries, pay equity matters and data use standards and governance, and emerging legal risks in the DEI and talent acquisition spaces.
- Manage outside counsel to ensure effective case handling, with an emphasis on efficiency and cost containment.
- Provide advice, counsel, and training in all areas of labor relations and employment law.
- Ensure compliance with all labor and employment policies, regulations, and laws and identify areas of opportunity.
- Oversee, investigate, and as necessary prepare, the responses, notices, subpoenas, summonses, and other correspondence that require legal action as it relates to labor and employment.
- Manage labor and employment litigation/arbitration/agency charges/demands/grievances.
- This role reports to the VP, Chief Labor and Employment Counsel
- This is a hybrid remote role located in Oak Brook, Illinois
Requirements:
- JD from an accredited law school
- Are licensed to practice law and in good standing (IL preferred)
- Demonstrated success negotiating labor agreements
- Prior in-house experience
- AmLaw 100 experience (preferred)
- 10+ years of labor law and employment law experience
- Strong analytical mindset
- Superior communication and negotiation skills
