We're seeking a highly skilled General Counsel to spearhead the establishment of the new Hydrogen Infrastructure Group. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in project development, contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and risk management within the energy sector. Responsibilities:
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive legal strategy to support the establishment and operation of the Hydrogen Infrastructure Group.
- Lead negotiations for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) agreements, government incentives, Interconnecting agreements, and other contracts essential to project development and operations.
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory requirements, permits, and compliance matters related to hydrogen infrastructure development, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Assess and mitigate legal risks associated with project development, liability shields, and energy storage systems, while safeguarding the interests of the company.
- Engage with government agencies, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to advocate for favourable regulatory frameworks and incentives to support hydrogen infrastructure development.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, with active Bar membership in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with a focus on project development and hydrogen.
- Proven track record of negotiating complex contracts, including EPC agreements, government incentives, and regulatory permits.
- Expertise in advising on risk management strategies, liability shields, and compliance frameworks within the energy sector.
- Strong understanding of energy storage systems, hydrogen technology, and related emerging trends.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate legal concepts clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in building and managing legal teams.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate and navigate legal challenges in a rapidly evolving industry landscape.
