Our client seeks a commercial renewable energy construction attorney to join their dynamic legal team as an EPC Attorney. As key business partners, their legal team provides essential legal expertise to support the development of utility-scale solar and storage projects across the United States. This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate EPC agreements, subcontracts, procurement agreements, NDAs, etc.
- Collaborate with business and project management teams to oversee all aspects of utility-scale solar and storage projects.
- Proactively manage risk across their projects by guiding construction teams on risk mitigation, drafting notices, and resolving issues in real time.
- Train project teams to comprehend and enforce contractual requirements.
- Advise and assist with construction and contractual claims and disputes involving owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure key provisions from financing and EPC agreements are integrated into procurement agreements and subcontracts.
- Support project teams to ensure subcontracting requirements are met and issues are resolved efficiently.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of EPC experience in the energy industry, preferably in solar or renewable energy.
- Extensive transactional experience in a law firm and/or in-house at an energy or construction company.
- Proven success in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating utility-scale solar and storage contracts.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage conflict and mitigate risk impartially.
- Experience with renewable energy project finance transactions.
- Experience working with privately held utilities and third-party EPC customers.
