The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to join their legal team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role offers the opportunity to shape the company's overall legal strategy while partnering with cross‑functional teams on high‑impact initiatives. This position is ideal for a dynamic attorney who enjoys a blend of transactional work, strategic counseling, and operational support across the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities & Opportunities
- Lead transactional legal work for multiple deal teams, including negotiating and closing solar project acquisitions and portfolio transactions.
- Advise cross‑functional teams on project development, regulatory matters, site control, disputes, and operational legal issues.
- Oversee development‑related agreements such as leases, easements, land purchases, and title/survey reviews.
- Provide guidance on EPC contracts and support corporate governance, subsidiary management, and board‑level reporting.
- Contribute to improving legal processes, templates, training programs, and overall risk‑mitigation strategy.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) required.
- Licensed to practice law in the United States and in good standing.
- Experience in transactional work, project development, real estate, regulatory compliance, or related areas.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance legal considerations with business objectives.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
