Commercial Counsel - Technology & Trading
We are currently partnering with a premier financial services institution in Chicago as they are seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to join their in-house Legal team. You will play a lead role in drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts related to technology, procurement, vendor, trading, and more. This is a high visibility position that will involve frequent interaction with stakeholders across various business units including Trading, Technology, Marketing, etc. as your collaboration with these teams will be critical to meeting objectives. They are seeking a business-minded individual that can bring a strategic lens to their commercial activities in addition to handling the documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements related to technology, procurement, trading, SaaS, hardware, etc.
- Collaborate with senior business leaders in regards to strategic commercial decisions for counterparties the firm is seeking to engage with
- Identify and communicate legal and operational risks associated with contractual matters
- Strategize cross functionally on business critical projects to ensure timelines and deliverables are completed in a timely manner
- Act as a champion for commercial excellence for the firm
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience
- Law degree from an accredited university
- Direct experience drafting and negotiating contracts
- Financial services experience is preferred but not required
- Critical thinking skills and ability to influence both internal and external counterparties.
