Job Description: Our Client is looking for a Legal Counsel with 1-5 years of experience in project development, project finance, and corporate law within the energy sector, specifically with solar projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, contract negotiation, and risk management related to renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for project development activities, including land acquisition, permitting, and interconnection agreements.
- Review and negotiate various contracts, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contracts, and operation and maintenance (O&M) agreements.
- Conduct due diligence on potential project acquisitions and partnerships.
- Advise on regulatory compliance matters at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Assist in structuring and negotiating project financing arrangements, including tax equity and debt financing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and business development, to support company objectives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, legal developments, and best practices in the renewable energy sector.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB/JD) from an accredited institution.
- Located in DC or surrounding area
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 1-5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on project development, project finance, and corporate law, preferably in the energy or renewable energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy policies, incentives, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with contract drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
