Real Estate Attorney

We are partnered with a highly respected regional law firm in the Cincinnati, Ohio area and are seeking an Associate Attorney to join their growing real estate finance team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working on commercial real estate transactions and wants hands‑on experience with a wide range of financing structures used across the Ohio market.

Overview

You will support the team by helping clients with commercial real estate loans, including:

Drafting & Reviewing Documents

  • Mezzanine loans (loans secured by ownership interests rather than the real property itself)
  • Traditional real estate loans, including mortgage loans, construction loans, and bridge loans
  • Preferred equity and joint venture agreements

Deal Support

  • Assist with due diligence, such as reviewing property reports, organizational documents, and anything needed to confirm a deal is ready to move forward.
  • Work closely with clients, lenders, title companies, and other attorneys to keep transactions moving smoothly and efficiently.
  • Review and help negotiate agreements between different lenders-for example, coordinating when both a senior lender and mezzanine lender are involved.
  • Support amendments, loan updates, and help problem‑solve if a deal becomes distressed or requires restructuring.
  • Stay organized by managing closing checklists, required filings, and general follow‑up items.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school.
  • Active admission to the Ohio Bar (or eligibility for immediate admission).
  • Demonstrated experience in real estate finance, including: Mezzanine lending, Mortgage financing, Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating real estate loan documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions, maintain organization, and meet deadlines.
