Key Responsibilities

Claims Administration & Settlement Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for liability claims, overseeing case management from initial response through resolution.
  • Collaborate with external counsel and insurance carriers to ensure strategic alignment and cost-effective settlements.
  • Develop and maintain claims tracking systems and dashboards for Finance leadership.
  • Analyze claims trends to identify risk mitigation strategies and support insurance program optimization.

Legal Function Development

  • Establish foundational policies, procedures, and systems for WNA's emerging legal department.
  • Build relationships with external legal partners and identify opportunities to bring legal work in-house.
  • Assist in developing legal budgets, performance metrics, and scalable reporting structures.
  • Provide legal support for new product lines and business expansion initiatives.

Commercial Legal Support

  • Draft, review, and manage commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and legal documentation.
  • Support contract negotiations and dispute resolution efforts.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance and intellectual property initiatives.
  • Coordinate corporate governance activities including board resolutions, entity maintenance, and filings.

Employment Law & HR Legal Support

  • Provide legal review and support for employment-related documentation and policies.
  • Assist HR with workplace investigations, handbook updates, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Liaise with external employment counsel on complex matters and compliance issues.

M&A and Corporate Development

  • Support due diligence, document review, and transaction coordination for acquisitions.
  • Assist with deal sourcing and pipeline development under CFO and legal guidance.
  • Manage confidentiality protocols and data room activities.

General Legal Support

  • Coordinate with external counsel on specialized legal matters (e.g., trade policy, regulatory issues).
  • Conduct legal research and support documentation needs across departments.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate or Associate's degree in Legal Studies required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of paralegal experience, with a focus on claims administration and insurance coordination.
  • Experience in manufacturing or product liability claims strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to M&A, commercial contracts, and corporate governance is highly desirable.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building legal infrastructure in a growing organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools, claims management systems, and document platforms.
  • High level of discretion and ability to manage sensitive business and financial information.
  • Self-starter comfortable working independently in a newly established legal role.
