Healthcare Regulatory Associate / Counsel

Our client, a top-tier national law firm, is seeking a Healthcare Regulatory Associate or Counsel to join its nationally recognized healthcare practice. This is an excellent opportunity to advise leading healthcare organizations on complex regulatory, compliance, and transactional matters within a highly ranked and collaborative team.

Position Overview
This role will focus on advising healthcare clients on a wide range of regulatory and compliance issues, with a particular emphasis on fraud and abuse, reimbursement-related matters, investigations, and transactional support. The position offers significant client interaction and the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters involving healthcare business transactions, including joint ventures and private equity investments.

Key Responsibilities
* Advise healthcare clients on federal and state regulatory compliance, including fraud and abuse laws (Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute), HIPAA, and related enforcement frameworks
* Provide guidance on reimbursement issues, regulatory investigations, and compliance matters impacting healthcare operations and transactions
* Support healthcare-related business transactions, including joint ventures, private equity investments, and strategic affiliations, by conducting regulatory diligence and advising on structuring considerations
* Counsel hospitals, health systems, physician groups, and other providers on day-to-day compliance and operational issues
* Draft and review policies, agreements, and regulatory materials related to healthcare operations and transactions
* Monitor regulatory developments and provide strategic guidance to clients on evolving healthcare laws and enforcement trends
* Collaborate with corporate, M&A, and litigation teams on multidisciplinary healthcare matters

Qualifications
* 4-7 years of experience in healthcare regulatory law at a law firm or in-house legal department
* Strong experience with fraud and abuse laws, compliance counseling, and regulatory matters in the context of reimbursement disputes, investigations, and business transactions
* Experience supporting healthcare transactions, including joint ventures, private equity investments, and managed care arrangements
* Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple matters and work directly with clients
* Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (California bar admission preferred)

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience advising provider-side clients, including health systems, hospitals, and physician groups
* Background in managed care and/or healthcare transactional work
* Prior experience at a top law firm or well-regarded healthcare practice
