About the Role

A Fortune 500 financial services institution is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its dynamic and collaborative legal team. This role will focus on providing strategic legal guidance on product development, emerging regulatory requirements, and risk considerations across a broad portfolio of financial and insurance-related offerings.

This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who enjoys working on innovative products, advising on complex regulatory issues, and partnering closely with business leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counsel product, business, and risk teams on legal considerations relating to new and existing financial services products.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state regulatory developments impacting product design, marketing, distribution, and operations.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory risks, and support risk mitigation strategies across business units.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate product-related documentation, disclosures, and corporate agreements.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Product teams to ensure regulatory alignment.
  • Support thought leadership on emerging trends affecting the financial services and insurance sectors.
  • Provide general corporate and regulatory advice as needed in a broad in‑house legal capacity.

Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department.
  • Foundational knowledge of corporate law or insurance law required.
  • Experience advising on product development, product regulations, or risk-related matters strongly preferred.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and provide practical, business‑aligned legal guidance.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder‑management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Insurance or broader financial services experience is a plus, but not required.
