Head of Compliance (Beijing, China)
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Head of Compliance in Beijing, China. As the Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. Your role will involve overseeing compliance activities, maintaining relationships with regulatory authorities, and providing guidance to the organization in matters related to compliance. The ideal candidate should possess a master's degree or above, have more than 10 years of experience in compliance, and be familiar with regulatory authorities and the asset management business in China. A background in law is preferred, and fluency in English is essential due to the company's overseas operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Monitor and assess regulatory developments and changes in the compliance landscape, and provide guidance to the organization on their implications.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and lead efforts to continuously improve the compliance program.
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits to identify potential areas of non-compliance and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with various departments within the organization to ensure compliance requirements are understood and integrated into business processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and handle all compliance-related inquiries and inspections.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior management, to promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior.
- Provide training and education to employees on compliance-related topics, ensuring a strong understanding of policies and procedures.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of compliance monitoring systems and tools.
- Lead investigations into potential compliance violations and take appropriate actions to address any identified issues.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, filings, and disclosures accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements.
- Keep abreast of international compliance standards and assist in expanding the company's overseas business operations.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or above in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance, preferably within the asset management industry.
- Strong knowledge of Chinese regulatory authorities, rules, and regulations governing the financial industry.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements specific to the asset management business.
- Preferably holds a law degree or has a strong legal background.
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with international stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
