About the Role
A leading real estate investment company is seeking a Vice President, Real Estate Counsel to join its growing legal team in Los Angeles. This individual will work closely with internal business units, external counsel, and key stakeholders across the organization to support a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate assets and transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial leasing agreements, including office, retail, industrial, and mixed‑use leases.
- Advise on real estate finance and lending transactions, including loan documents, refinancing, and capital markets activity.
- Support acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and related due diligence efforts.
- Provide legal guidance on asset management matters, including property operations, tenant issues, and compliance matters.
- Partner with investment, finance, and operations teams to advance business objectives while managing legal risk.
- Manage and oversee external counsel as needed.
- Develop and implement best practices, templates, and process improvements to increase efficiency across the legal function.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in a U.S. state bar (California preferred).
- 7+ years of commercial real estate experience, ideally including a blend of law firm and in‑house exposure.
- Strong background in commercial leasing, real estate finance, and lending transactions.
- Familiarity with acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures is strongly preferred.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast‑paced, sophisticated investment environment.
- Collaborative working style with the ability to build strong relationships across teams
