Transportation Litigation Senior Attorney
A leading national law firm is seeking a Senior Transportation Litigation Attorney to join its Houston office. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a sophisticated transportation and logistics practice handling complex litigation matters for major national and international clients. The position offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement and significant responsibility on high-profile matters.
The Role
The successful candidate will represent transportation, logistics, and commercial clients in a broad range of litigation matters, including trucking and casualty disputes. You will have the opportunity to manage cases from inception through resolution, work closely with experienced trial attorneys, and advise clients on evolving legal and regulatory issues impacting the transportation industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
- Conduct legal research and analysis relating to transportation law, regulatory issues, and casualty litigation.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents.
- Attend and defend depositions, court hearings, mediations, and other proceedings.
- Develop case strategy and assist with trial preparation and trial work.
- Negotiate settlements and resolutions on behalf of clients.
- Prepare case assessments and provide strategic recommendations to clients.
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices and practice groups on complex matters.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Admission to practice in Texas.
- Approximately 8+ years of litigation experience, ideally in general casualty, transportation, or commercial litigation.
- First or second chair trial experience strongly preferred.
- Trial experience required.
- Experience handling depositions, motion practice, and case management.
- Transportation, logistics, trucking, or related regulatory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with emerging e-commerce and gig-economy legal issues is a plus.
- Strong analytical, writing, advocacy, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and interact directly with clients.
