Real Estate Operations Counsel
We are currently partnered with one of the oldest REITs in the country located right outside of Washington DC that is looking to bring an experienced Real Estate Operations Counsel on to join their team. This Firm is one of the most innovative and dynamic real estate companies in the US and has been a well-established presence in the industry for over 60 years, becoming a proven leader in the ownership, operation, and redevelopment of retail properties across the country's best markets.
This individual will be joining a fast-paced and dynamic legal team and have the opportunity to work on a variety of matters related to commercial real estate, including property management, insurance claims, and risk management. This role offers high-visibility to leadership and the chance to work on a highly sophisticated portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee legal matters that impact the Firm's properties, including the preparation of and response to default claims asserted by or against tenants, preparation of notices and letter amendments to leases through resolution of matters/claims, and research related to property management
- Partner, counsel and advise various business units within the firm
- Oversee risk management and property operations' insurance programs
- Manage outside counsel
- Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, consultants, and other third parties for property operations, tenant coordination, construction, and development
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience with commercial real estate law
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
- Proven success as a partner/adviser to business operations
- Litigation or litigation management experience
- A proven track record of creating effective legal strategies
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
