Real Estate Counsel
A leading developer, owner, and operator in the renewable energy sector is seeking a Real Estate Counsel to support their growing portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects across North America.
This role will partner closely with development, commercial, land, and operations teams, providing legal guidance throughout the full project lifecycle, from early-stage development through construction, financing, acquisition, and long-term operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters relating to renewable energy project development and operations.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage complex real estate agreements, including leases, easements, purchase and sale agreements, assignments, options, and other land-related documents.
- Support project permitting efforts and assist with interactions involving federal, state, and local regulatory authorities.
- Provide legal support for project acquisitions, divestitures, financings, and strategic transactions, including due diligence and transaction document review.
- Work closely with land, title, and development teams to identify and resolve title-related issues impacting project development.
- Review title commitments, surveys, endorsements, title policies, and curative matters associated with large-scale energy projects.
- Manage outside counsel and external advisors as needed.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced growth environment.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Texas or eligible to obtain admission.
- Approximately 0-7 years of legal experience, within renewable energy, commercial real estate, infrastructure, project development, title, or related sectors.
- Experience drafting and negotiating real estate and commercial agreements.
- Familiarity with title review, land rights, and development-related legal matters.
- Prior exposure to renewable energy, infrastructure, power, or large-scale development projects is highly preferred.

- An Am Law or regional law firm with energy, real estate, or project development experience.
- An in-house legal team supporting renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, or real estate development projects.
- A title insurance, land services, or project development environment with substantial transactional exposure.
