About the Role

Our client, a specialized compliance consulting firm serving middle‑market private equity sponsors, is expanding into financial operations advisory. They are seeking a Private Equity Finance & Compliance Advisor - someone with in‑house PE controllership experience who can deliver high‑quality financial oversight, NAV review, and fund‑level reporting support to PE clients, while strengthening compliance processes, controls, and regulatory alignment across their financial operations.

This is a client‑facing consulting role, not an internal accounting position and not an outsourced CFO track. It is ideal for a PE Controller or Assistant Controller who enjoys technical fund work, cross‑functional collaboration, and the variety of supporting multiple sponsors.

Salary is negotiable based on experience.

What You'll Do

• Fund Compliance Collaboration - Partner with compliance consultants on policies, procedures, ADV updates, and controls testing.

• Fund Accounting Oversight - Review NAV packages, capital account statements, and financials prepared by fund administrators.

• Controller‑Level Review - Validate financial reporting, ensure accuracy of fund data, and strengthen internal controls for PE clients.

• Compliance Testing - Perform periodic testing of financial controls, valuation processes, and reporting workflows.

• Books & Records Requirements - Help clients maintain compliant financial books and records under SEC rules.

• Marketing Material Validation - Review track records, performance data, and fund marketing materials for accuracy and compliance alignment

• Process & Controls Testing - Support testing of financial processes, data integrity, and reporting controls.

• Client Advisory - Provide guidance to PE sponsors on best practices in fund operations, reporting, and compliance‑adjacent workflows.

Who You Are

• Experienced PE Controller - A PE Controller or Assistant Controller who naturally thinks in terms of controls, documentation, and regulatory expectations.

• Fund Accounting Expert - Deep understanding of PE fund structures, waterfalls, capital activity, and NAV mechanics.

• Compliance‑Adjacent - Comfortable working on or alongside compliance teams; familiar with marketing review, policies, and regulatory expectations.

• Client‑Facing Professional - Able to communicate clearly with PE sponsors and deliver polished advisory work.

• Detail‑Oriented Reviewer - Strong controls mindset with the ability to catch inconsistencies and elevate reporting quality.

• Adaptable & Curious - Enjoys variety, problem‑solving, and supporting multiple clients in a consulting environment.
