Legal Operations Technology Manager
A leading global manufacturing organization is seeking a Legal Operations Manager to play a key role in driving the efficiency, scalability, and overall performance of its legal department. This individual will serve as a strategic business partner to the legal team and be responsible for optimizing legal processes, implementing and managing legal technology solutions, overseeing outside counsel and vendor relationships, managing legal spend, and developing meaningful metrics and reporting for department leadership.
This is a highly visible position that offers the opportunity to influence the future direction of the legal function through operational excellence, technology adoption, and data-driven decision-making. The Legal Operations Manager will lead initiatives related to e-billing, matter management, contract lifecycle management, reporting and analytics, knowledge management, and process improvement while partnering closely with legal, finance, procurement, and other business stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have experience evaluating, implementing, and supporting legal technology platforms, as well as managing system integrations, user adoption, and ongoing process enhancements. This individual will also oversee legal department budgeting and spend management efforts, including monitoring outside counsel performance, leading RFP processes, negotiating fee arrangements, and helping ensure the legal function operates as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
Additionally, this person will establish and track key performance indicators, develop executive-level reporting, and leverage analytics to identify trends, improve workflows, and support strategic planning. The role requires strong project management skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Ideal Background:
- 5+ years of legal operations or related experience
- Experience with legal technology platforms, including e-billing, matter management, legal spend management, or contract lifecycle management systems
- Strong project management and process improvement experience
- Experience managing outside counsel, legal vendors, and legal budgets
- Proven ability to develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting metrics
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience supporting an in-house legal department preferred
