Labor & Employment Special Counsel
A well-established management-side labor and employment law firm is looking to add an experienced attorney to its growing virtual team. This opportunity is well-suited for a senior employment lawyer who enjoys handling sophisticated litigation matters and wants the flexibility of a predominantly remote practice without the pressure of generating business.
Position Overview
In this role, you will represent employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters across the country, including cases arising under Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) policies. You will take the lead on matters from initial assessment through resolution, working independently while partnering with a highly experienced team of employment law attorneys.
The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel as needed for client matters, court appearances, or other case-related obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage employment-related disputes from inception through resolution, including Administrative agency proceedings, Demand and settlement negotiations, and Single-plaintiff employment litigation
- Develop and execute litigation strategies tailored to client objectives
- Draft and oversee pleadings, motions, discovery, and other substantive legal filings
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Represent clients in mediations, hearings, conferences, and trial proceedings
- Mentor junior attorneys and legal support staff when appropriate
- Work collaboratively with attorneys across multiple offices and practice groups
- Provide support on complex employment matters, including class actions and PAGA litigation, as needed
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Minimum of 7 years of labor and employment litigation experience
- Active bar membership in good standing
- Proven ability to manage cases independently in a remote work environment
- Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and case management skills
- Prior experience practicing in a law firm setting (preferred)
