About the Role The Corporate Counsel will join the legal team of a publicly traded, technology-driven consumer financial services company and serve as a trusted legal partner to stakeholders across the organization. This role offers broad exposure to commercial contracting, consumer finance regulations, compliance, litigation management, and operational legal support. Candidates are not expected to possess experience across every responsibility outlined below; the company is seeking an attorney with strong fundamentals who is excited to learn, grow, and expand their expertise across multiple legal disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor agreements, licensing agreements, service agreements, NDAs, and strategic partnership contracts.
- Advise on federal and state consumer protection laws, including UDAAP, TCPA, FCRA, FDCPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assist in managing litigation matters, including consumer claims, arbitrations, small claims actions, and matters handled by outside counsel.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- 1-3 years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or combination thereof.
- Strong understanding of legal risk assessment and ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
- Experience with consumer finance, fintech, leasing, retail, or other highly regulated industries is a plus.
