About the Company

Our Client is a reputable organization operating in the mining industry, with activities spanning exploration, development, operations, and commercialization. They are seeking an entry-level lawyer to join our legal team with a focus on commercial transactions and contracts. This role is well-suited for newly qualified lawyers or candidates with internship or clerkship experience who are eager to build hands-on experience in commercial law. The successful candidate will work closely with internal business teams and more senior legal professionals on a wide range of contracting, transactional, and general commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, including:
    • Vendor and supplier agreements
    • Services and consulting agreements
    • NDAs, purchase orders, and amendments
  • Support transactional work related to mining operations, projects, and corporate initiatives
  • Conduct legal research on contract, corporate, and regulatory matters relevant to the mining industry
  • Help monitor contractual obligations and assist with contract management processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., procurement, operations, finance) to understand business objectives and provide legal support
  • Prepare summaries, issue briefs, and internal guidance for business stakeholders
  • Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Perform general in-house legal support as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Law degree (JD or equivalent) from an accredited institution
  • Recently licensed or in the process of licensing (or eligible for licensing)
  • Internship, articling, clerkship, or comparable legal experience is sufficient; prior full-time legal practice is not required
  • Demonstrated interest in transactional law, commercial contracts, or in-house legal work
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both legal and non-legal stakeholders

Preferred (but Not Required)

  • Exposure to commercial, corporate, or contract law through coursework, internships, or clerkships
  • Familiarity with regulated or resource-based industries (e.g., mining, energy, infrastructure)
  • In-house, business-facing, or practical legal experience
  • Interest in building a long-term career in commercial or transactional law
