About the Role:
This leadership role is responsible for building and leading the legal function across Southeast Asia for a fast-growing organization in e-commerce and retail industry. The position requires a proactive, business-minded legal professional who can shape legal strategy, ensure compliance, and manage risk in a dynamic, multi-jurisdictional environment.
Responsibilities for this Head of Legal FMCG role:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements; implement standardized templates and processes.
- Ensure compliance with laws across multiple Southeast Asian countries; monitor legislative changes; manage regulatory filings and licenses.
- Oversee board resolutions, shareholder communications, and statutory filings; manage company formations and dissolutions.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks; manage disputes and liaise with external counsel.
- Advise senior management on legal and business issues; contribute to business strategy.
- Engage and oversee external legal advisors; manage budgets and quality of service.
Requirements for this Head of Legal FMCG role:
- Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree; admitted to the bar in a relevant jurisdiction.
- 5-10 years of progressive legal experience, preferably in-house or advising businesses in Southeast Asia.
- Expertise in corporate law, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and governance; experience in e-commerce, media, or retail is a plus.
- Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in a major Southeast Asian language is an advantage.
