About the Role
The Assistant General Counsel will join a collaborative in‑house legal team supporting a Leading Financial Services Company. This role provides legal guidance across the organization with a focus on commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and financial services operations. The ideal candidate will bring sound judgment, strong drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to partner effectively with stakeholders across business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor, technology, financial‑services, and payment-related contracts.
- Provide legal guidance on financial‑institution, banking, fintech, consumer‑protection, and money‑movement regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes affecting banking, payments, lending, and consumer‑facing products, and coordinate implementation across the business.
- Conduct assessments of operational and compliance practices, identify risks, and implement solutions consistent with legal and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams-including Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Product-to maintain a strong governance and control framework.
- Support special projects, cross‑department initiatives, and legal matters requiring commercial, regulatory, or financial‑services expertise.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (or ability to obtain in‑house counsel registration, if applicable).
- Minimum of 4 years of legal experience with commercial transactions and exposure to financial services, banking, payments, or related regulatory environments.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
