General Counsel (Part-Time)
South Florida | Onsite Executive Leadership Opportunity
This role goes beyond providing legal advice. The successful candidate will be a trusted business partner responsible for helping drive strategy, governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and organizational growth. The General Counsel will work closely with ownership and senior leadership to support critical business decisions and long-term company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise executive leadership on strategic, operational, regulatory, and governance matters.
- Review, negotiate, and oversee commercial contracts and business agreements.
- Identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, financial, and operational risks.
- Partner with leadership on growth initiatives, licensing matters, and corporate development opportunities.
- Support board governance, corporate compliance, and enterprise-wide policy development.
- Manage relationships with outside counsel, regulators, lenders, and key stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on employment, compliance, and organizational best practices.
Qualifications
- JD preferred.
- 10+ years of legal, compliance, or executive leadership experience.
- Experience within highly regulated industries required.
- Strong background in corporate governance, contracts, compliance, and risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive decision-making and business strategy.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Experience
- Multi-state operational experience.
- Prior experience in cannabis or similarly regulated industries.
- Exposure to corporate finance, lending relationships, and complex business transactions.
