Chief Compliance Officer, Hedge Fund
A well-established, boutique NYC hedge fund with a focus on credit strategies manages a suite of private funds and closed-end fund vehicles. The firm is seeking a hands-on Chief Compliance Officer to own, enhance, and continuously evolve the compliance program-partnering closely with the investment team, operations, and key service providers to maintain a practical, business-enabling culture of compliance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant compliance experience within an SEC-registered investment adviser and/or private fund environment (hedge fund experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and periodically update policies and procedures; run a monitoring/testing program; and oversee the annual compliance review.
- Strong working knowledge of regulations applicable to credit managers and closed-end fund structures (e.g., Advisers Act, '40 Act, Securities Act/Exchange Act, pay-to-play, custody, code of ethics/personal trading).
- Experience preparing and overseeing regulatory filings (e.g., Form ADV and other periodic filings as applicable) and managing examination readiness and regulator interactions.
- Proven capability to review and advise on marketing/investor communications to ensure alignment with applicable rules and firm standards.
- Track record of identifying and managing conflicts of interest and risk areas (allocations, best execution, valuation oversight, records retention, cybersecurity/business continuity).
- JD or prior legal training is a plus, but not required; strong judgment, independence, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders are essential.
