Compensation: Up to $350,000+ based on experience, credentials, and portable business
A well-established New York law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Partner to join and help expand its bankruptcy and restructuring practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking a platform with strong support, sophisticated work, and the ability to play a meaningful role in the continued growth of the practice.
Position Highlights
- Opportunity to play a key role in a growing bankruptcy and restructuring practice.
- Candidates do not need to currently hold the Partner title to be considered. Experienced Counsel, Senior Associates, and Partner-level attorneys with significant bankruptcy experience are encouraged to apply.
- Portable business is preferred for certain senior-level candidates but is not required.
- Hybrid work environment with a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture (3 days in office).

Key Responsibilities
- Represent debtors, secured lenders, creditors, landlords, tenants, trustees, private equity funds, hedge funds, and other stakeholders in bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
- Handle Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 liquidations, claim objections, plan confirmation matters, and related litigation.
- Advise clients on pre-bankruptcy planning, out-of-court workouts, receiverships, and assignments for the benefit of creditors.
- Counsel clients in connection with distressed assets and special situations, including:
- Distressed debt restructurings
- Distressed real estate acquisitions
- Debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing
- Claims trading
- Section 363 sales
- Loan-to-own strategies
- Prosecute and defend avoidance actions, clawback litigation, and other bankruptcy-related disputes.
- Handle complex commercial litigation matters within and outside bankruptcy proceedings, including foreclosure actions, fraud claims, securities disputes, unfair competition claims, employment-related disputes, and other high-stakes business litigation.
- Work collaboratively with attorneys across litigation and transactional practice groups.
Qualifications
- Approximately 7 to 10+ years of bankruptcy, restructuring, and insolvency experience.
- Strong experience representing clients in Chapter 11 matters and related litigation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sophisticated matters with significant responsibility.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, litigation, and courtroom skills.
- Experience working directly with clients and developing case strategy.
- Admission to practice in New York required.
- Portable business is preferred for partner-level candidates; candidates with approximately $500,000+ in portable business are of particular interest.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation up to $350,000+, depending on experience, credentials, and business generation.
- Firm-wide billable expectation of 1,750 hours.
