The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Procurement Counsel to join their team in Houston, TX. This is a strategic role focused on procurement and supply chain legal matters for large-scale energy projects. The position is on-site and involves drafting and negotiating vendor agreements, ensuring compliance with procurement laws and trade regulations, and advising on risk management throughout project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate NDAs, master supply agreements, service agreements, and purchase orders.
- Implement legal processes and contract templates for procurement efforts.
- Provide legal support for international shipping, customs, and trade compliance.
- Collaborate on RFP development and risk registers for equipment/material categories.
- Conduct training on contract templates and procurement regulations.
- Advise on contract issues during project execution, including change orders.
- Assist with claims, litigation, and regulatory investigations.
- Travel for negotiations, legal proceedings, and project sites as required.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) with strong legal experience in procurement and supply chain.
- Knowledge of state and federal procurement laws and compliance.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel as needed.
