An AmLaw 100 ranked national law firm is seeking a Medical Malpractice Associate Attorney to join its expanding healthcare defense practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to build specialized expertise while working alongside experienced litigators on sophisticated and high-exposure matters.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to work on a diverse medical malpractice and healthcare litigation docket, representing hospitals, healthcare systems, physicians, and other medical professionals in complex defense matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage medical malpractice and healthcare defense matters from inception through resolution
  • Take and defend depositions, participate in court appearances, and handle all phases of litigation
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other substantive legal filings
  • Develop litigation strategies in collaboration with experienced partners and senior attorneys
  • Maintain direct client contact and provide strategic guidance throughout the life of a case
  • Work on complex, high-exposure healthcare litigation, including emerging liability matters
  • Collaborate with a team of skilled litigators in a fast-paced and supportive environment

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice in New York
  • 2+ years of litigation experience
  • Medical malpractice or healthcare litigation experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral advocacy and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
