A leading P&C insurance organization with significant operations across South Florida and the Miami‑Dade region is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to join their high‑performing legal team. The group is composed of collaborative, thoughtful, and driven professionals who are committed to supporting the company's mission in an evolving insurance landscape. The Deputy General Counsel will play a key role on this dynamic team and will be responsible for providing strategic legal guidance across regulatory, litigation, product, and corporate matters. This position offers the opportunity to engage deeply with Florida's complex insurance environment, catastrophe‑risk issues, and multi‑state regulatory frameworks.

The Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for:

    • Provide legal guidance on key Florida insurance regulatory matters, including rate and form filings, OIR compliance obligations, claims‑handling requirements, and catastrophe‑response frameworks.
    • Support underwriting, claims, product development, reinsurance, and distribution functions across Miami‑Dade and the broader South Florida market.
    • Oversee insurance‑related litigation, including coverage disputes, property and CAT claims, AOB matters, fraud issues, and regulatory investigations.
    • Review, draft, and negotiate core commercial agreements, including MGA, TPA, agency, vendor, and reinsurance contracts.
    • Advise on corporate governance, Board‑level matters, and strategic partnerships affecting the organization's operational and regulatory posture.
    • Engage with state and local regulators, including the Florida OIR and DFS, on filings, inquiries, examinations, and compliance initiatives.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop attorneys and legal staff while serving as a key strategic advisor to the General Counsel and executive leadership team.

The Deputy General Counsel should have the following qualifications:

    • JD from an accredited law school
    • 10+ years of legal experience, with at least 5 in P&C insurance or a highly regulated industry.
    • Experience with Florida property insurance, catastrophe exposure, or multi‑state regulatory environments is highly beneficial.
    • Additional foreign language is a plus
