The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an Associate Attorney, General Liability & Insurance Defense to join its litigation team. Based in Houston, TX, this position offers full remote, hybrid, or on-site flexibility depending on candidate preference, while providing the opportunity to handle a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.

This is an excellent opportunity for a litigation attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing files independently, appearing in court, taking depositions, and developing litigation strategy while serving as a trusted advisor to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a litigation caseload from initial intake through resolution.
  • Conduct file review and evaluate claims, defenses, and liability exposure.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and other substantive legal filings.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic case analysis.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery.
  • Represent clients at court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and assist in developing case strategy.
  • Participate in trial preparation and trial attendance.
  • Provide practical legal guidance to clients and collaborate closely with firm leadership.
  • Effectively manage deadlines, priorities, and litigation budgets while maintaining a high level of ownership over assigned matters.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active bar license in Texas and good standing.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of litigation experience.
  • Experience in general liability, insurance defense, premises liability, transportation, or related civil litigation preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience handling depositions, mediations, court appearances, and discovery.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload while working collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
