Senior Market Surveillance Specialist

We are partnering with a leading global investment firm to hire a Senior Market Surveillance & Control Room professional as part of a newly created role in Hong Kong. This role sits at the intersection of trading, compliance, and technology, offering broad exposure across equities, derivatives, and fixed income markets, alongside regional regulatory frameworks.
The Opportunity
You will play a critical role in safeguarding market integrity and supporting a sophisticated, high-volume trading environment. Working closely with Trading, Legal, Compliance, and Technology teams, you will be responsible for both real-time market surveillance and control room oversight across APAC.
This position offers strong visibility, ownership, and the chance to influence how surveillance frameworks evolve within a fast-paced, data-driven platform.
Key Responsibilities
Market Surveillance
- Monitor and analyse trading activity across asset classes to identify potential misconduct, market abuse, or behavioural anomalies
- Investigate alerts and escalate findings to senior stakeholders in a timely manner
- Conduct deep-dive reviews into complex trading scenarios and assess potential risks
- Contribute to the enhancement of surveillance frameworks, including model development and coverage expansion
- Partner with Legal and Compliance to translate analytics into actionable insights
Control Room
- Oversee information barrier controls, including wall crossings, watch/restricted lists, and MNPI-related processes
- Interpret and implement APAC regulatory requirements into operational controls and systems
- Manage position limits, disclosure obligations, and regulatory monitoring across regional markets
- Act as a key liaison between Trading and Technology to ensure the smooth operation of surveillance infrastructure
- Support time-sensitive regulatory and event-driven reporting requirements
Candidate Profile
- 5-10 years' experience in market surveillance, control room, or trading compliance within financial services or a regulator
- Strong understanding of global markets and APAC regulatory frameworks
- Experience working in high-performance, fast-paced environments (e.g., buy-side, trading firms, or leading banks)
- Proven ability to analyse complex data sets and exercise sound judgement under pressure
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact confidently with trading desks and senior leadership
- High degree of integrity, ownership mindset, and intellectual curiosity
