The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced L&E Attorney to join its team as Special Counsel within a virtual office structure. This is a mostly remote role designed for a seasoned practitioner who enjoys hands‑on legal work, strategic oversight, and meaningful client interaction-without the pressure of business development. The position offers flexibility while maintaining exposure to sophisticated, full‑cycle employment litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and single‑plaintiff employment litigation
- Develop case strategy and manage matters from inception through resolution
- Draft, review, and oversee legal work product, including pleadings and position statements
- Conduct and defend depositions and represent clients at hearings, conferences, and trials
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and legal staff as needed
- Collaborate closely with partners, attorneys, paralegals, and shared administrative resources
- Support matters involving EPLI coverage, with potential involvement in class actions and PAGA cases
- Manage outside counsel and coordinate litigation strategy where appropriate
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA‑accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing
- 7+ years of experience practicing employment law and employment litigation
- Strong experience with administrative charges, litigation strategy, and client counseling
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while remaining collaborative and responsive
- Prior law firm experience preferred
- Experience handling EPLI‑covered matters strongly preferred
- California bar admission is a plus
