Labor and Employment Attorney

A well-known and national client in Kansas City is seeking a skilled Labor and Employment Attorney to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, including litigation and counseling, and will be passionate about delivering strategic legal solutions to clients across various industries. This role will sit in Kansas City in a hybrid structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel on employment and human resources matters.
  • Draft, review, and analyze employment agreements, severance packages, employee handbooks, and other employment-related documents.
  • Represent in employment litigation, including non-compete disputes, discrimination claims, and administrative proceedings.
  • Take and defend depositions, manage discovery, and assist in trial preparation.
  • Advise on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Support employment-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and contract review.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across jurisdictions to address complex personnel issues and policy implementation.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and stay current on legal developments in labor and employment laws.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Missouri (Kansas license is a plus).
  • 3+ years of experience in employment litigation and counseling.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, including restrictive covenants.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Trial experience is a plus.
