Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Derivatives Counsel to join our legal team in New York. This role will provide strategic legal support for our trading activities, focusing on equity derivatives and a wide range of trading documentation. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in derivatives law, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of trading agreements, including ISDA Master Agreements, equity derivatives confirmations, prime brokerage agreements, and related documentation.
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters impacting derivatives and trading activities globally.
- Collaborate with traders, risk managers, and operations teams to ensure legal risk is managed effectively.
- Monitor and interpret evolving regulations affecting derivatives markets and proprietary trading.
- Provide guidance on complex transactions and new product launches.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from a top-tier law school.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in derivatives law, preferably within a trading firm, investment bank, or top law firm.
- Strong knowledge of equity derivatives and related documentation.
- Familiarity with ISDA documentation and other trading agreements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-pressure environment.
Work Arrangement:
- Hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).
- Based in New York City.
