Corporate Counsel - Elite Hedge Fund
A premier global investment management firm is seeking a Corporate Counsel with 4-5 years of top‑tier law firm experience to join its high‑performing Legal team in New York. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters in a fast‑paced, intellectually rigorous environment, partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the business.
The successful candidate will support a broad range of legal needs associated with operating a global investment management platform, including regulatory matters, trading documentation, contracts, governance, and general advisory work. You will report directly to the US Head of Legal and work within a lean legal team, providing immediate impact and meaningful responsibility from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on a wide variety of legal, regulatory, and commercial matters impacting the firm's US operations
- Review, draft, and negotiate trading agreements and other commercial contracts
- Provide guidance on U.S. regulatory issues, including SEC, CFTC, and NFA considerations
- Support internal governance, compliance initiatives, and policy development
- Partner with investment, operations, compliance, and risk teams on day‑to‑day issues
- Manage outside counsel on specialized matters, as needed
- Contribute to legal risk assessments and firmwide strategic initiatives
Qualifications
- 4-5 years of relevant experience at a top‑tier law firm; prior experience with asset management, funds, or financial services is strongly preferred
- Outstanding academic credentials from a top law school
- Strong understanding of U.S. securities laws and the regulatory landscape for investment advisers
- Excellent drafting, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to operate proactively and independently in a collaborative, high‑performance environment
- Exceptional judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail
Compensation & Work Environment
- Cravath‑scale all in compensation
- Five days per week in office in a dynamic, collegial, and high‑accountability culture
- Opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and contribute meaningfully to strategic initiatives
