Senior Trial Attorney-Insurance Defense
Position Overview
A leading national insurance organization is seeking an experienced Senior Trial Attorney to manage complex, high-exposure litigation matters in Northern California. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to act as first-chair counsel on significant cases and oversee matters from initial intake through final resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as lead trial attorney on high-value, complex cases, including catastrophic injury matters involving significant damages exposure.
- Manage the full lifecycle of litigation, including case assessment, strategy development, discovery, motion practice, and trial or settlement.
- Handle a diverse caseload that may include auto liability, premises liability, construction-related claims, real estate disputes, and landlord-tenant matters.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies, including managing expert witnesses and overseeing depositions and discovery processes.
- Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as first-chair counsel.
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders to align legal strategy with broader case objectives and drive favorable outcomes.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys, supporting their development and contributing to team effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in California.
- 10+ years of litigation/trial experience, handling complex, high-exposure cases.
- Demonstrated first-chair/second-chair trial experience, particularly in catastrophic injury or large-loss cases.
- Strong background in personal injury/bodily injury and/or insurance defense.
- Proven ability to independently manage cases and develop effective litigation strategies.
