Senior Regulatory Counsel

A leading company in the clean energy sector is seeking a Senior Regulatory Attorney to join its legal team. This is a high-impact opportunity to contribute to the advancement of transformative energy technologies that support the transition to a more resilient, sustainable, and predictable energy future.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping regulatory strategy and ensuring compliance across dynamic state and federal energy markets. This position reports to the Vice President of Regulatory Law and offers the chance to work at the forefront of energy innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel on state energy regulatory matters, including litigation, compliance, enforcement, and ongoing advisory support.
  • Monitor and evaluate FERC proceedings; advise on strategic engagement to support the company's commercial and policy objectives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate interconnection and transmission service agreements.
  • Represent the company in regulatory proceedings and manage interventions, protests, and compliance filings.
  • Conduct regulatory due diligence and risk assessments for prospective projects.
  • Support commercial and project development activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution; active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in energy regulatory law, including both law firm and in-house roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with state utility commissions; familiarity with FERC proceedings preferred.
  • Strong background in the electric power sector; experience with renewable energy is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage complex regulatory issues and communicate legal strategy effectively.
  • International work is a plus
