Labor and Employment Associate - Los Angeles
A national law firm with a robust and well-respected Labor & Employment practice is seeking a highly motivated third-year law student to join its Los Angeles office as a Labor and Employment Associate.
This associate will work closely with experienced attorneys on a wide spectrum of labor and employment matters, gaining hands-on exposure to both litigation and advisory work. Responsibilities will include assisting with single-plaintiff employment actions, wage-and-hour litigation, and other complex workplace disputes, as well as supporting employment counseling for corporate clients on compliance, risk management, and employment-related best practices. The role offers meaningful opportunities to develop substantive experience through motion practice, legal research, drafting pleadings and briefs, preparing discovery materials, and participating in client communications.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a clear and sustained interest in labor and employment law, along with strong analytical, research, and writing skills. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment. The position requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, contributing effectively within a team-oriented practice while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities. Prior coursework, internships, externships, or law firm experience in labor and employment law is preferred but not required.
Candidates must intend to sit for the California bar exam and obtain admission to practice in California. The firm values professionalism, initiative, and a commitment to delivering high-quality legal work and client service.
The expected salary range for this associate position in Los Angeles is $225,000 - $290,000, though actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. This range represents only one component of a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, which includes eligibility for productivity and discretionary bonuses, as well as a full suite of benefits such as health, life, accident, and disability insurance, and participation in a 401(k) retirement plan.
