Construction Litigation Attorney

A regional civil defense firm in California is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Construction Law Practice Group in the Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County or Walnut Creek office. This is a full-time, hybrid role offering meaningful litigation experience and a path to career advancement. Must reside in California.

Our Construction Law Practice is recognized throughout California and Nevada for handling complex construction defect disputes and catastrophic construction injury claims. We represent insurance carriers, developers, contractors, and a wide range of trades on projects from single-family homes to large commercial developments.

This role is ideal for attorneys looking to advance their careers in construction litigation and defense.


Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a litigation caseload from intake through resolution
  • Draft motions, discovery responses, and legal memoranda
  • Conduct depositions, attend court appearances, and argue motions
  • Communicate with clients and provide strategic case updates
  • Collaborate closely with partners and other associates on case strategy
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and trial preparation
  • Prepared to appear on-site for case matters as needed

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Active and in good standing with the California State Bar
  • 3+ years of litigation experience (construction defect experience strongly preferred)
  • Exceptional legal writing, oral advocacy, and analytical skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to client needs in a fast-paced environment
  • State courtroom experience strongly preferred
  • Trial experience a plus but not required
