Litigation Senior Counsel
An international recognized law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join its team remotely in the state of California. This opportunity is ideal for a highly motivated insurance defense attorney with 10+ years of litigation experience who thrives in a sophisticated, fast-paced environment and is capable of independently managing complex matters from inception through resolution.
The ideal candidate is a strong litigator, exceptional legal writer, and strategic thinker who can confidently handle all phases of litigation while mentoring junior attorneys and serving as a trusted advisor to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a caseload of approximately 10-20 insurance defense matters.
- Conduct thorough claim investigations and develop case strategies.
- Draft, respond to, and manage all aspects of written discovery.
- Review, analyze, and prepare documents for production.
- Conduct legal research and prepare case analyses.
- Take and defend depositions, including expert and fact witness examinations.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings.
- Attend hearings, argue motions, and advocate on behalf of clients.
- Prepare pre-trial filings and trial materials.
- Handle mediations, settlement conferences, and trial preparation.
- Maintain proactive communication and reporting with clients and carriers.
- Supervise and mentor associates, paralegals, and other legal professionals.
- Collaborate with litigation teams to achieve efficient and favorable outcomes.
Qualifications
- Resides in California and is an active membership in good standing with the California Bar.
- Minimum of 10+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience handling all phases of complex litigation.
- Strong deposition, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation skills.
- Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical abilities.
- Effective oral advocacy and courtroom presence.
- Outstanding client relationship and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring junior attorneys and staff.
- Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to identify issues and drive results.
- Capable of traveling for trial
