Senior Funds Counsel - Global Investment Firm
At the Global Investment Firm, we are seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Senior Funds Counsel to join our legal team. This individual will play a critical role in supporting fund formation and investor-facing activities across our multi-asset class and benchmark-relative equities businesses. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in private fund structuring and investment management regulation, with the ability to operate at the highest levels of legal strategy and business execution.
As Senior Funds Counsel, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our investment, corporate development, and investor relations teams, offering legal insight and strategic guidance on the development and launch of new investment products. You will negotiate product terms with prospective clients and investors, advise on existing product lines, and support new business initiatives. This role also involves working cross-functionally with compliance, finance, and operations to ensure seamless execution and regulatory alignment.
You will be expected to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines, while maintaining a high standard of legal precision and commercial judgment. This is a unique opportunity to influence the direction of our investment offerings and contribute meaningfully to the firm's continued innovation and growth.
Qualifications & Responsibilities:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- 5-10+ years of legal experience in investment management, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in private fund formation (open- and closed-end), with familiarity in managed accounts a plus.
- Strong knowledge of key investment management laws and regulations (e.g., Advisers Act, Investment Company Act).
- Proven ability to advise on fund structuring, investor negotiations, and product strategy.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to business stakeholders.
- Experience working directly with investment and business development teams to provide strategic legal counsel.
- Ability to manage high-pressure, high-value projects with sound judgment and professionalism.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across departments and with senior executives.
