Project Counsel
A leading renewable energy developer, owner, and operator is seeking a Project Counsel to join its growing legal team in Houston. This organization has a substantial footprint across North America with a portfolio spanning solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to deepen their experience supporting renewable energy projects through all stages of development, construction, financing, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements supporting renewable energy projects.
- Provide legal support throughout the full project lifecycle, from development through operations.
- Advise internal stakeholders on project development, construction, procurement, and operational matters.
- Assist with project financing transactions, including tax equity and debt financings.
- Work cross-functionally with development, construction, finance, and business teams to help drive projects forward.
- Support legal risk management and contract strategy across a growing portfolio of renewable energy assets.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
- Approximately 3-5 years of transactional legal experience.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Background supporting project development, renewable energy, energy, infrastructure, or construction-related matters.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work directly with business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, or battery storage.
- Exposure to project finance transactions.
- Tax equity financing experience is highly desirable.
- Prior experience at a law firm, developer, energy company, or infrastructure-focused organization.
