A leading, global e-commerce platform is looking to expand it's legal team and bring on a Senior Privacy Counsel. This individual will report to the team's Deputy General Counsel and will assist in building and improving the company's privacy program. This individual will support the company's privacy program goals and compliance obligations across a number of business units.
Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally to provide global privacy and data security expertise, build strong relationships and achieve successful business outcomes
- Advise clients on the development, collection, use, transfer and governance of data
- Continuously remain up to date on all relevant privacy, consumer protection and data privacy laws and technological developments to ensure company compliance with global privacy and cybersecurity laws and to ensure the company's continual evolvement
- Assist with the enhancement of the company's global privacy program including privacy operations and documentation; lead compliance efforts, including CCPA/CPRA
- Document and oversee mitigation of privacy compliance risks across the company
- Manage, draft and update privacy notices and draft/enhance data governance policies, including data transfers and privacy-by-design reviews
Requirements:
- 4+ years of combined relevant experience at a law firm and/or in house focused on data privacy and protection
- Advanced knowledge of key privacy concepts, terms and compliance obligations (including GDPR and CCPA/CCPA)
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills and ability to effectively communicate complex legal issues to legal and non-legal partners
- Experience negotiating, drafting and negotiating documents and policies
- JD and active bar membership
