Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate across internal teams to support the execution of key tasks, including those outlined below.
- Negotiate, draft, and provide counsel on commercial power contracts, including registration with commodity brokers, transactions under ISDAs and related confirmations, tolling agreements, capacity purchase agreements, physical transactions, and supporting credit instruments like parent guarantees.
- Work with engineering, asset management, and market operations teams to provide advice on agreements related to the operation of battery energy storage systems.
- Advise market operations on various operational matters, including the negotiation of qualified scheduling entity contracts and related topics.
- Provide guidance on risk policies concerning planning, forecasting, procurement, trading, buying, selling, and scheduling of energy, ancillary services, and capacity products.
- Offer legal support for trading activities and draft related agreements.
- Provide legal assistance across development, construction, finance, operations, corporate, compliance, and trading teams.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements covering project, corporate, M&A, and other transactional areas.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand operational aspects of energy storage systems and offer advice on relevant agreements.
- Oversee additional legal matters as required.
Required
- Bachelor's degree and JD required.
- Active law license in the jurisdiction of the office location.
- 3-10 years of legal experience required.
- Experience with power trading activities and/or transactions required.
- Willingness to take on varied roles based on business needs and project priorities.
- Comfortable working in small teams, with curiosity, enthusiasm for innovation, and ability to collaborate effectively.
- Strong initiative and ownership to complete tasks efficiently within a fast-paced, driven team.
