This Real Estate Counsel position participates in all aspects of the company's operations, management, and development of a diverse real estate portfolio. Reports into General Counsel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, amendments, and other real estate transactional documents.
- Research and draft memoranda relevant to the Company's operations.
- Gather, organize, and store information relevant to ongoing projects.
- Interact and negotiate with counsel for tenants, vendors, and other third parties.
- Provide support for litigation-related matters.
- Collaborate with other Company departments, including Lease Administration, Development, Tenant Coordination, and Property Management.
- Execute other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions:
- Minimum of a J.D. Degree.
- Minimum experience of two years drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related documents required.
- Five years' experience practicing commercial real estate law strongly preferred.
- Licensed to practice law in Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, organize time, meet deadlines, and handle highly confidential information.
