Position Summary:
As the Deputy General Counsel, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with the General Counsel, COO, CFO, and other C-suite members to address a wide range of legal matters. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and lead a sophisticated proactive compliance program that aligns with their evolving compliance challenges amidst their rapid growth. You will also be responsible for managing outside counsel, ensuring that all legal activities are in line with company goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the General Counsel and other key stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive compliance program tailored to the company's specific needs.
- Oversee and lead the legal team's efforts in assessing and addressing compliance risks associated with our operations, products, and services.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, and ensure the company remains in compliance with all legal requirements.
- Supervise and mentor legal team members, fostering professional growth and development.
- Oversee relationships with external legal counsel, ensuring cost-effective and efficient legal support.
- Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the California Bar with a strong understanding of California and federal laws.
- 8+ years of legal experience, with a background in transactional law and/or in-house legal departments.
- Proven experience in developing and leading compliance programs in a corporate setting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage outside counsel effectively and efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with C-suite executives and cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High level of integrity and ethics, with a commitment to upholding legal and ethical standards.
