Key Responsibilities:
Provide proactive legal advice to HR and management on employment law issues, including employee rights, workplace policies, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Ensure company practices and policies comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Advise on new or amended legislation and implement necessary changes.
Manage and oversee employment-related litigation and disputes. Collaborate with external counsel when necessary and handle internal investigations related to employee complaints or disputes.
Draft, review, and update employment policies and procedures to ensure compliance and alignment with best practices. Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for employees and management.
Review and negotiate employment contracts, non-compete agreements, and severance packages. Provide guidance on employment agreements and related legal documents.
Assist in resolving complex employee relations issues and disputes, providing guidance on handling sensitive matters while maintaining compliance with legal standards.
Maintain accurate and thorough records of employment-related legal matters and ensure proper documentation for audits and legal proceedings.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as employment counsel or in a similar legal role, with a strong focus on employment law.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Familiarity with HR practices and employee relations.
Active bar license in South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina or the ability to obtain licensure.
