Position Summary

The Vice President, Assistant General Counsel will provide strategic legal counsel on matters related to intellectual property, technology transactions, and litigation. This role will support the company's enterprise-wide technology initiatives, including AI development, software licensing, and data protection, while also advising on IP-related disputes and risk mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise internal stakeholders on intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex technology agreements, including SaaS, licensing, and vendor contracts.
  • Provide legal support for AI and machine learning initiatives, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and ethical standards.
  • Manage and coordinate IP litigation and enforcement efforts in collaboration with outside counsel.
  • Support enterprise risk management by identifying and mitigating IP and technology-related legal risks.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and data privacy teams to ensure legal alignment with business objectives.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in IP, AI, and fintech, and provide proactive guidance to leadership.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, including both transactional and litigation work in intellectual property law.
  • Experience advising on technology and software-related legal issues, preferably in a financial services or fintech environment.
  • Strong understanding of AI, data privacy, and cybersecurity legal frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-house legal experience with a mortgage servicer, bank, or fintech company.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks applicable to mortgage servicing and consumer financial services.
