Senior Technology Counsel
I am partnered with a leading health system in Nashville looking to expand their legal team. This organization is looking to add a Technology Counsel with over 10 years of experience. This role will provide strategic legal counsel on a wide range of technology-related matters, including digital health, data privacy, cybersecurity, software licensing, and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the healthcare regulatory landscape and a strong track record of advising on complex technology transactions and innovation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal guidance on technology transactions, including SaaS agreements, cloud services, software licensing, and vendor contracts.
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to digital health platforms, AI/ML tools, telemedicine, and mobile health applications.
- Collaborate with IT, compliance, and security teams to ensure adherence to HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable data privacy and cybersecurity regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements with technology vendors, partners, and service providers.
- Monitor and interpret evolving laws and regulations affecting healthcare technology, including FTC, FDA, and state-specific digital health laws.
- Provide training and education to internal stakeholders on legal risks and best practices in technology adoption and innovation.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years focused on technology law in the healthcare sector.
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR, and other data privacy and security frameworks.
- Experience negotiating and managing complex technology contracts and licensing agreements.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, digital health trends, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
