Position Summary:
The Senior Litigation Counsel will serve as a key member of the in-house legal team, responsible for overseeing and managing a broad range of litigation matters. This role will lead and coordinate litigation strategy across the organization, providing proactive legal advice on dispute resolution, regulatory enforcement, and claims management. The ideal candidate brings deep litigation experience, strong judgment, and a collaborative approach to managing legal risk in a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage ongoing litigation, arbitration, and pre-dispute matters involving commercial, contractual, regulatory, and operational issues.
Serve as the internal point of contact for all litigation-related matters, coordinating with business units and senior legal leadership.
Engage and manage external counsel on active litigation, ensuring alignment on strategy, budgets, and desired outcomes.
Provide litigation risk assessments and develop internal recommendations on dispute resolution and mitigation strategies.
Advise on litigation exposure related to key contracts, governance structures, compliance obligations, and operational decisions.
Support internal investigations that may lead to or arise from litigation or regulatory enforcement.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal litigation management systems, playbooks, and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications & Experience:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Texas preferred).
Minimum 7 years of litigation experience, ideally from a leading law firm or in-house legal team within a regulated industry.
Demonstrated expertise in complex commercial litigation and arbitration.
Experience managing external counsel and overseeing large-scale or high-stakes litigation matters.
Familiarity with legal issues arising in the energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors is a plus.
