Senior Legal Counsel - Labor & Employment
A leading, highly regarded organization within the infrastructure/energy space is seeking an experienced Associate Counsel - Labor & Employment to join its in-house legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative group of senior attorneys on complex, high-impact labor and employment matters within a dynamic and regulated environment.
The ideal candidate is a confident legal professional who can operate autonomously while partnering effectively with internal stakeholders. This individual will play a key role in advising the business on compliance, managing litigation, and supporting strategic labor initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor on compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, including EEO, traditional labor, OSHA and workplace safety, leave, wage and hour, prevailing wage, and immigration matters
- Represent the organization in state and federal court proceedings, as well as before agencies such as the NLRB and EEO bodies
- Provide practical, business-oriented legal guidance to senior leadership on a wide range of labor and employment issues
- Support collective bargaining efforts, including negotiation, administration, and interpretation of labor agreements
- Manage and lead complex legal projects and initiatives with meaningful business impact
Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in the state of New York
- Minimum of 10 years of experience focused on labor and employment law, including litigation and administrative proceedings
- Deposition experience
- Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills
Preferred:
- Additional litigation experience within a sophisticated or regulated environment
